ANNE  PAOLUCCI'S  AWARD-WINNING  PLAY,  MINIONS  OF  THE  RACE,
NOW ON VIDEO -- PREMIERES ON CHANNEL 34, QUEENS PUBLIC TV

The first video version of Anne Paolucci's award-winning Minions of the Race, will have its premiere on Wednesday November 6, 8-9 PM on Channel 34, QPTV.  The play will also be shown Monday November 18.

Minions focuses on the confrontation between Thomas More and Thomas Cromwell, the man who succeeded More as Chancellor of England.  In five sequences -- three of which are in "Limbo",  where More and Cardinal Thomas Wolsey wait for Cromwell to join them -- Paolucci presents a powerful drama of the statesmen who helped shape England as one of the leading contenders among the nations of the modern world.

Paolucci has written a number of other plays, three volumes of short stories, and four books of poetry.  Her first full-length play, The Short Season, premiered in Naples Italy and later was staged by Maurice Edwards at the Cubiculo (The Classic Theater) in New York.  She is also well-known as a Renaissance scholar and a leading writer on theater of the "Absurd".  Her book on Edward Albee - From Tension to Tonic: The Plays of Edward Albee (1972, 1974, 2001) - was the first copmlete assessment of his plays and has been recognized as a classic in the field.  Many of her articles and monographs on ancient and modern drama have recently been published in Hegelian Literary Perspectives (Griffon House Publications, 2002).

A graduate of Barnard College and Columbia University, Dr. Paolucci taught at The City College for a number of years before moving to St. John's University as its first University Research Professor.
